For WG Carpentry, www.wgcarpentry.com/ which has been constructing beautiful residential and commercial buildings in the Connecticut and Massachusetts area for over twenty years, RP DESIGN Web Services has built a beautiful new website to showcase the company’s work and philosophy. The home page features a rotating photo gallery of appealing images; and the contact page provides an easy connection for interested visitors, who can even upload sketches to describe a project.

On WG Carpentry’s new site, the gallery page features everything from exterior and interior construction to fine furniture. Visitors to the website can see the attention to detail, fine workmanship, and dedication to high standards in the photos of the many kinds of construction projects shown.

Challenge represents opportunity to this construction company, as they bring their clients’ dreams to reality, which is reflected in the firm’s statement: “If you can imagine it, we can build it.”

PUTTING YOUR WEBSITE TO WORK: 5 https://www.rpdesign.com/putting-your-website-work-5 PUTTING YOUR WEBSITE TO WORK: 5

Fifth in a series from RP DESIGN Web Services about website basics and the nuts and bolts that make your website work for you.

IMAGES: THE OTHER CONTENT!

A couple of blogs ago, I wrote about content copy, the text portion of a website which, along with images, makes up the heart and soul of any site. But, as important as words are for search engines and visitors, frequently, it’s the images that first engage people when they view a website, and images which influence sales and convey the lasting impressions of your business or organization. You want to impress people with the best visual representation of what your business or organization is about. A negative first impression will lead to no chance for a second one!

What images to use? If you have a logo, or other company-specific art, be sure the images are of excellent quality, not just a printed copy of your letterhead or company brochure. Images of people should be of professional caliber. As a matter of fact, everything you give to the designer should be clear and sharp, in focus, and as large or as high resolution as possible. If you’re using images of products, it’s preferable to feature separate shots for each, rather than use a group photo with as many products jammed in as possible.

Depending on the nature of your website, professional photos, though expensive, may be the way to go. There are also options to choose stock photos and illustrations. These can get expensive though, so it might be a good idea to ask your website designer for sources or suggestions. Images are an important marketing tool and they can promote visitor confidence in your business or product. So, don’t overlook images. Your website visitors won’t!

Third in a series of topics, "PUTTING YOUR WEBSITE TO WORK," from RP DESIGN WEB SERVICES, about website basics and the nuts and bolts that make your website work for you.

WANT A WEBSITE? NEED CONTENT? DON'T WANT TO WRITE IT?

Content is the heart and soul of your website?it’s why people visit! They want the visuals to grab their interest, and text  to quickly supply the information they want. Text is a vital part of most websites, and though it frequently takes a back seat when a website is created, it usually works best when it’s designed in along with the images. The amount of copy, the tone it conveys, and the ways in which language is used?along with visual images?all help determine the overall user experience. If it’s not interesting or if there’s a problem with readability, it may take less than ten seconds to lose the people who came looking for you.

But content isn’t just for people. Content copy is also what search engines use for listing your site so people can find you. An effective copywriter must navigate between what people find interesting and enjoyable and what’s necessary for computerized search engines to pick up.

If you want a website, don’t be held back by the prospect of having to write! Forget about grammar and spelling–and keywords. We’ll take care of it all for you?or we’ll edit what you give us. RP DESIGN Web Services, an experienced and innovative web marketing, design, and advertising agency, offers content writing and editing as one of the valuable services available to our clients. We can review what you have, add additional text for new pages, or provide copy for a new or redesigned website. Tell us about your business, your goals, your customers, and your competition. We’ll write your story so it’s interesting for people to read and also useful for search engines. Content helps people find your site, content gets them to stay; and content will lead them to action, whether it’s making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or coming back to your website again.

Effective content copy helps make your website work for you!
